Preparing to tee off at the Hollies Golf Course, I overheard two women talking about their games. ?I had eight riders!? one woman exclaimed happily.
?That?s great!? her friend said.
Never having heard the golf term ?rider?, I asked what it was.
?It?s when you hit the ball a long distance,? she said. ?Instead of walking that far for your next shot, you ride in the golf cart.?
Like this woman, I am very happy when I get a ?rider?. In golf we have to celebrate all of our victories, no matter how small. If you get a ?rider?, chip the ball onto the green or make that putt, or even come close to making that putt, celebrate that you live in a wonderful community and are able to walk around the golf course and see some spectacular scenery.
In spite of the cool weather, ladies night at Hollies had the best turnout so far this season. (By the way, if anyone has any pull with the weatherman, can you please order some sunshine? This winter weather is playing havoc with our golf scores. That?s my excuse and I am sticking to it.)
Thank you to all of the women who came out to golf, in spite of the weather. Sue Steinhaeur won the KP.
Steinhaeur took low score of the night, with Rodgers following close behind. Those practice rounds really help, don?t they, Tineke?
If you want to golf in a relaxed atmosphere and have some fun, come to Hollies Ladies Night every Wednesday at 6 p.m. Please call 250-724-5333 to reserve.
